last week when I wrote about "feeling overwhelmed", it didn't come out of nowhere; I was feeling overwhelmed myself. with the pandemic, I've had slow sales and the orders I got were heavily delayed because fulfillment centers were closed. I was feeling overwhelmed for multiple reasons: I wanted to get more sales but didn't think it was appropriate to advertise and I was nervous that the orders I'd get would take forever to fulfill and lead to negative customer experiences.
I was between a rock and a hard place in my mind but, in an attempt to curb my own feelings, pretended to talk to "someone in my shoes" and it worked; I felt better. at the time of this post, my fulfillment centers were opening and orders were being processed; thank you to everyone who waited patiently during these unprecedented times. but just when I started feeling more at ease, the recent news reported growing cases of the virus in the U.S. and said businesses will be shutting down again (nervous chuckle). this "new normal" was lasting longer than anyone anticipated and I was starting to think waiting is not the answer.
truth of the matter is, I don't have any answers; I can only imagine what I'd tell someone in my shoes to do. I'd say, "charge on! make mistakes and learn from them. don't wait idly in case this thing lasts longer than predicted. don't feel guilty for advertising or selling your merchandise. remember your 'why'. if possible, donate your proceeds to a cause. be up front when people ask about something and if you don't know, say so". hope this helps you as much as it helped me. we're all going to get through this; it's what we do as humans. we thrive!
